Radcross "am Bornheimer Hang" Frankfurt December 7th 2008
Written by Marc

Race in Frankfurt.

I was a bit anxious before the start, wondering how my condition would be. I even forgot to put the transponder on, so that I had to return to the car to fetch it just before the start and lost my good start-place, I had to start in the last line! (but anyway that is not the most important thing in Frankfurt, even if a good start is always helpful).

Until the second time where we passed near the pits, I was in contact with the group of 4 in the front, I was racing for the 5th place. But then I slid away in the right turn entering the pits and crashed. I lost precious time at each passage in this turn and couldn’t close the gap separating me from Gabby Day and Suzanne Juranek, even if that gap went down to just 15 seconds in halfrace.

I defended my 11th position against the riders behind me and I think that 5’58’’ backorder on the worldchampion Hanka Kupfernagel and former worldchampion Marianne Vos is quite acceptable.

Anyway, this race gave me confidence to continue cyclo-cross and I hope to do as good in two weeks in the next World-Cup race in Nommay (FRA).

See you,

Suzie
