World-Cup race in Nommay December 21st 2008 (FRA)

Nommay (FRA). "Dirty Biking"

The course was really muddy so I didn't make a warm-up in the terrain and only warmed up on the rolls.

IIt turned out to be a fatal error, because I had put to much pressure into my tubes and felt like on an ice-track. During the first lap, I fell back to the last places. Only after having changed the bike for a second time, I began to feel at ease, having more control in the turns and more grip. I had already lost a lot of time on the leading pair Compton and Kupfernagel and I struggled to not be double by them.

I managed to reduce my deficit on the four riders in front of me from 40'' to nearly nothing and made a nice sprint with Susanne Juranek for the 42rnd place (that was just for the show and for the fun of it!) As I'm not focusing on cyclo-cross this year, doing it rather for preparation, I'm quite satisfied and I hope that Zolder will still be a little better.

For the moment I've caught a little cold (my daughter probably gave it to me, an advanced christmas present, my nose won't stop dripping!), but I hope that it will be gone in a few days.

Merry Christmas!!

See you soon
