World-Cup race in Heusden-Zolder (BEL) Dezember 26th 2008

I’m a whimp!

.
Yesterday, during the training, I bruised my ringfinger on my right hand when I was trying to shoulder my bike before the last "climb", I’m certainly prepared for Switzerland!

.

In the morning, it was all swollen up and had a nice blue and red coloring. Obviously, I couldn’t move it correctly. During the race it sure was a big bother to me, especially when I had to shift gears (which you had to do a lot!), it disturbed less for breaking. Nevertheless I couldn’t fix my mind on the race, all I thought about was the pain. I’m a real whimp.

The lap was really nice (it just had a little to much asphalt passages in my opinion) with a very steep mountainbike downhill. But as I already said, my head was on strike because of the pain, and on the last few hundreds of meters I was doubled by the leading group of 4, and they took me out. I was kind of angry back there.

Anyway, a world-cup race is always a special event and the atmosphere in Zolder was absolutly sublime, so that I didn’t regret having been there (if only all those with a chance to win would start, they would have really tiny bunches).

Now I’m enjoying a little rest over the weekend before starting at my young friend Yasmin Achermanns home-race in Beromünster (CH).

Cheers,

Suzie
