Race report Tervuren After the disaster at Beromünster, where I abandoned because of my frozen fingers, which didn’t allow me to shift gears anymore (moreover the gear-shifters didn’t work too! Apparently that’s a common problem with sram shifters: they can’t stand any dirt on the cables!), the race in Tervuren was really good...until my crash in the 3rd of 7 laps. I had a bad start (entering the parcours in the last ten places) but then progressed to 11th place in the second lap, riding in a small group with Veerle Ingels and Ann Amouts, who finished 11th resp. 13th. Unfortunatly, I then fell in the end of lap 3, I crashed on a frozen root in the technical part of the circuit and hit the hard ground with my head. As I fell on my ear, I felt really dizzy during some time and by the time I redressed my balance, the next group of 7 riders had passed me.I got on the bike again, but it took me a whole lap to find back to my rhythm and I lost a lot of time especially in the technical part where I crashed. I think that this race was a good preparation for the championships next week, where I hope to do a good performance (or, as Trixy would say: Kick some ass!). Cheers, Suzie |
