Race in Roubaix

I had been looking forward to ride in my new champions-jersey in the legendary velodrome in Roubaix, but, unfortunatly, for me the race was over before it actually began.

While I was pre-riding the lap, about one and a half hours from the actual start of the race, I tore a muscle in my back when I was lifting my bike over the hurdles.

During the training session on Saturday with the coulors of my new club

.

The muddy circuit (it was one the verge of the unbearable, there was no fun in it!) forced the riders to get off and on the bike constantly and this did worsen the pain I felt. Thats the reason why I decided to quit the race after the second lap, it wasn’t reasonable to continue when my back was killing me.

The American Katie Campton won the race in front of Hanka Kupfernagel and Georgia Gould.
I went to the doctor on Monday and he made an infiltration in the muscle, so that I’ll be able to race in Milano. My presence on that last World-Cup is rather important, both for the team and for the sponsors. I’ll try to do my best even if I’m not in my best form.

Before the start with my new outfit

Today, I’ll ride on the rolls a little hour and I’ll try to do a not too intensive training in the terrain tomorrow, just to see if I can really take the start in Milano.

After the World-Cup, I want to take a break and leave the bike where it is for two weeks before I join my team in Sicily for a training-camp.
The next race will be Het Volk in Belgium on 28th February (Brrr, road-racing in the midst of winter sounds like so much fun...).
See you,

Suzie
