GP ELSY JACOBS, 26. April 2008

Team presentation

Great success for the organisators, for my team and for luxemburgish womens cycling !

Sunshine, public, riders...everything was at the best for the start of the first G.P. Elsy Jacobs. The only part of sadness was the minute of silence for luxemburgish rider Tanja Wintersdorff, who died 2 weeks ago at the age of only 32. Tanja, we won’t forget you!

The first 4 laps were done in a good rhythm and I had no problem to follow and even take part in some escapes in the front. But at the 5th climb, Noémi Cantele (Bigla) attacked, followed by Fabiana Luperini (Menikini) and eventually the bunch was split in two on top of the hill, unfortunately I found myself in the second bunch. At first we worked hard to get back some of the riders in front, but after 1 more lap, most of the girls didn’t work anymore, so that we’ve finished with around 6’’ on the first and were not considerated in the result!

My consolations however were that my team-mate Monia Baccaille won the race, winning precious UCI-points for the team, and that my team chef invited me to participate on the World Cup race in Bern (CH) next weekend!

I also want to congratulate Natalie and Christine for their amazing performance, and I hope that the public has finally understood what womens cycling really is like!
