Race-Report Championship Roeser (LUX) Sometimes it‘s easier to race in a big bunch that goes more than 40 km/h than just a dozen people “sleeping” at around 30km/h, waiting for the favorites to attack!
I had expected the two favorites Lamborelle and Majerus to make a hard race right from the beginning, but none of this happened and so I encouraged my daugther Trixy to do an early break. So she attacked in the first “very small” climb and was in the lead during more than one lap with a maximum advantage of 1’03”. An attack, that apparently none of the presspeople noticed, because everybody spoke of Chantal Hoffmann’s acceleration ( who only got a few hundred meters advantage!) as being the first attack of the day! (I suppose that Trixy was too fast for them to registrate...).
Anyway after this attack of Hoffmann, the race really started ( with sleeping-parts all over) and soon only Majerus, Lamborelle, Schmit, Kovelter, Hoffmann and me remained in the lead. Kovelter was the first to drop out and then, in the second-last lap Schmit lost contact. In the final little uphill, Chantal Hoffmann “coinçait” and the three of us were gone for the sprint. Christine tried an attack in the last km, but Nathalie got back into her wheel, so I tried myself to run away, this being my only chance to win. It didn’t work and as I was in first (and worst!) position at the beginning of the sprint, I finished in 3rd place. Nevertheless I’m happy not having conceeded any seconds to the new champion Nathalie Lamborelle and I’m particularly proud of my daughter, who, despite her exams (which she passed with success), showed inicative and did a brilliant race. (See her report!).
Furthermore I’m also proud of my couch-potato of a son, Fränz! He attacked in the first lap of the juniors-race together with Max Michely (Tétange), trapping all the favorites, who didn’t take the attack seriously, and helped his teammate Christophe Fanck to win the title! (See his own report, which will take a while to be written. As I said: couch-potato!) |
