After the nice race on snow in Leudelange with with little work for the mechanic as the bikes stayed pretty clean, the mud-snow-mix in Wetzikon put Marc in real stress, as he had furthermore two of us (Trixy and me) to take care of! Fortunately, the organizer helped us to find a second person to help out in the pits (Thanks a lot Roger!). Otherwise I think Marc would have gone bonkers...
After a good start, I entered the pits in 5th position, was doubled by Lise Mueller and passed 6th after one lap (Hanka, Helen and also Sabine riding in a completely different league...), but I had to change bike in the second lap which really was a problem.
My second bike wouldn't change gears properly, forcing me to pedal like an idiot the fast slight downhill parts and the road, so that I lost contact to Lise, and after my second change also to Katrin Leumann.
It's very stressing, when it's not your legs "breaking" you, but the mechanics. I'm nevertheless satisfied of my race, it has shown me that I'm not only competitive in Luxembourg. I hope the technical problems on my bike can be resolved for the next weekend, I'll be doing the World Cup in Kalmthout.
N.B: This time my husband had not only to work as mechanic, but he also participated in the "Jekami"-race ("Jeder kann mit", where everyone can race), over 20 minutes. He could "enjoy" the sufferings of a racer, maybe he'll remember what it feels like to be in a race ;)
