After my visit at the dentists on Friday, I didn’t feel like riding in Pétange and preferred to do the race in Tervuren together with my daughter Trixy.
Originally, I’d expected a rather fast and frozen course, but the positive temperatures had transformed the ground into a muddy swamp.
After a horribly bad start, I entered the muddiest part in last position, struggled and got back to the 15th position in the first lap. In the 3rd lap, I was in a group of 5, together with Nicole De Bie, but a moment of inadvertence made me fall and I got a gap of some seconds to the group. At the end of that same lap, some technical problems just after the pits made me lose even more time, which wasn’t very beneficial regarding postive thinking, and I finished nearly 2’ behind that group I was initially in.
Anyway, I consider this muddy race a good preparation and test for the nationals next weekend (which, at least according to the weather-forecast, will be kind of messy too). Let’s keep our fingers crossed that bad luck will stay clear of this years nationals!
See there Cheers Suzie |
