A small local lap of 1,2km, around 35 riders on the start, the russian national team on track, primes to take every few laps...a rather good mix for an interesting race.
After 3 laps and a first attack of 2 russian girls that I chased down, another russian girl attacked, followed by Dorothee Janke (Koga), Julia Fehring (Radon Test team) and another german rider, who dropped soon after and was caught back by the bunch.
In the bunch, the russian riders chased down every single attempt of an attack and nearly caused some crashes in the turns, because some of them had a bad technique in turns.
I tried my best to get into a break, but when the front group lapped us, it was another russian girl that went away for the the 4th place. The race was neutralized for 5 laps because of an intervention of the ambulance on the circuit
After the new start, I sprinted for some primes and in the final sprint for the 5th place, I was 4th and finished 8th overall. All in all not too bad, but the distance was a little short (only 42km) and by the time I was on «cruising-speed», the race was already over... |
