Cyclo-Cross race in Baal (BEL) January 1st 2012

I really thought that worse than Leuven was not possible, but in fact it is!

The muddy course in Baal was absolute suffering and pain ! Now I understand why only the best riders took the start on that race... Even the men had to run big parts of the course and the downhills were just ‘swim in the mud’. I had a good start and in the first part I ran where other people tried to pass on bike, which allowed me to gain a lot of positions. After the first lap I was still in touch for place …, but  then  the hard runparts with the bike on the shoulder made my back ache like crazy. Adding some stupid errors, I lost a lot of positions and really, I just wanted to quit the race. But since the organisator gave us start-money, I had to honour this and finished the third lap, hoping the commissionars would stop me before last lap (they did.).

Unfortunately there are no pictures from that race.

Even if the results from the last races are not so great, the form is improving and I’m hoping to continue my cyclo-cross season after the nationals.
