Bad luck for the national championships! It started with the news of the death of Zina on Tuesday and a big headache and toothache on Friday afternoon. On Saturday morning the headache was nearly gone, but the pain in my tooth had grown unbearable, so that I went to the doctor, who diagnosed an abscess on a wisdom-tooth and an inflammation of the nerve. He set me under antibiotica for ten days and gave me the advice not to race. But since my husband Marc and myself invested so much time in preparation, I took the start anyway. ![]() But I had to realize very soon, that it would have been better if I’d stayed at home. In the race-deciding attack of Christine Majerus (who was the strongest and most active rider, but in the end got badly rewarded for her efforts) I couldn’t make the ultimate effort to close the gap to her, Nathalie and Anne-Marie and had to chase behind them with Chantal Hoffmann. The gap wasn’t really growing, but when I realized we wouldn’t come back to the front, I decided to stop and take a few days rest to recover. ![]() The race was won in sprint by Nathalie Lamborelle, just in front of the very unlucky Christine and Anne-Marie Schmit. ![]() As for the next races, I don’t have any idea yet, first of all I’ll take an appointment at the dentist as soon as possible and then we’ll see! ;-) ![]() For my daughter Trixy’s race please read her own report! (Trixy’s very personal and silly comment: Good joke, next joke. By the way, I like Chuck Norris.). |
